Hex Slotted Nut

 

The hex slotted nut is a locking fastener featuring a slotted design on a standard hex nut. When used with a bolt with a hole in the rod and a cotter pin, this nut effectively prevents relative rotation between the nut and the bolt. They are particularly suitable for applications subject to vibration or impact, such as lifting equipment, artillery, presses, and die-casting machines.

The core function of a hex slotted nut is to secure the front and rear wheel axles, thereby firmly connecting the vehicle's front and rear axles to the frame and tires. To prevent the nut from loosening, a cotter pin is typically used, inserted through the slot of the slotted nut. The cotter pin must pass through the center of the axle rod. Specifications typically range from M2 to M12.

Vehicle axle securing: Used to connect the vehicle frame and tire to prevent loosening. By tightening the rods through the front and rear wheel axles, the front and rear axles are secured, securing the frame and tires together. Mechanical anti-loosening components: Suitable for mechanical connections subject to vibration, shock, or alternating loads.

For situations where the hexagonal slotted nut is level with or slightly above the fixed part, a clever removal method can be employed. First, select a hexagonal nut that is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the hexagonal slotted nut head and place it on the nut head. Next, spot-weld the nut to the hexagonal slotted nut head. After the weld cools, use an adjustable wrench to easily loosen the nut and remove the hexagon socket bolt.
