Customized Brass Nickel Plated Pin

 

Positioning Pins are basic but very common parts in fixtures. Their main job is to line up the workpiece with the fixture using the "one surface, two pins" method:

One flat surface stops 3 movements.

One round pin stops 2 movements.

One diamond pin stops 1 movement.

This reduces errors and keeps machining accurate. There are two types:

Round pins (cylindrical)

Diamond pins (with a flat side)

Types of Positioning Pins

Fixed Pins – Pressed or screwed into the fixture. They are very precise and strong.

One-piece pins – Made as a single part.

Replaceable pins – Have a sleeve (hardened) and a removable pin. If the pin wears out, just replace it, saving cost.

Floating Pins – Can move slightly (with springs or sliding parts). Used when:

The workpiece size isn't exact.

The workpiece bends from heat or force.

Easier to put in and take out.
