Gaskets are made of a wide variety of materials. According to different application scenarios and performance requirements, they are mainly divided into the following categories:
Non-metallic gaskets
Rubber gaskets: Made of natural rubber, nitrile rubber, chloroprene rubber, etc., they have good resilience and sealing performance, and are suitable for low-pressure and low-temperature environments, but are not resistant to high pressure and high temperature.
Asbestos gaskets: Made of asbestos fiber and rubber compounding agent, they are resistant to high temperature and corrosion, but because they are harmful to the human body, they are gradually replaced by other materials.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) gaskets: They have extremely strong chemical stability and corrosion resistance, and are suitable for corrosive media such as strong acids and strong alkalis, with a wide operating temperature range (-196℃ to 260℃).
Graphite gaskets: Made of pure graphite or metal mesh reinforced graphite, they have good compression resilience and high temperature resistance, and are suitable for high temperature and high pressure environments.
Semi-metallic gasket
Wrapped gasket: Made of metal strips (such as V-shaped steel strips) and non-metallic strips (such as graphite, polytetrafluoroethylene) alternately wound, with good elasticity and sealing performance, suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
Metal-clad gasket: Made of non-metallic materials wrapped in a metal shell, it has both the strength of metal and the sealing performance of non-metal.
Metal gasket
Soft iron gasket: Suitable for general high-pressure environments, low cost.
Alloy steel gasket: With high strength and corrosion resistance, suitable for high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media.
Copper and aluminum gasket: With good thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, suitable for specific working conditions.
Other special materials
Klinger gasket: A high-performance non-asbestos gasket with excellent heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, suitable for a variety of industrial fields.
Flexible graphite composite gasket: Made of flexible graphite and metal core plate, suitable for high temperature and high pressure environments, with good sealing performance.
Summary: The material selection of the gasket needs to be comprehensively considered based on the specific working environment, medium characteristics, temperature and pressure. For example, polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets are suitable for highly corrosive media, while graphite gaskets are more suitable for high temperature and high pressure environments.
