304/316 stainless steel captive hexagon socket screws are designed to provide reliable fastening force while permanently securing the screw to the pre-assembled component, preventing it from falling out during vibration, disassembly, or inversion. This significantly improves installation efficiency, equipment reliability, and ease of maintenance. Below is a technical requirements document for customizing these screws. It covers everything from materials and standards to all key custom parameters, providing users with maximum customization options.

I. Core Basic Requirements
Product Standard: DIN 912 / ISO 4762 is the foundational standard, defining the basic dimensions, tolerances, and mechanical properties of screws.

Both thread size and nominal length require specific data.

Material Characteristics
304 stainless steel: Offers excellent corrosion resistance (suitable for general environments), heat resistance, and mechanical properties. Non-magnetic.

Applicable Environments: Most indoor environments, food processing equipment, general medical devices, and everyday electronic products.

316 Stainless Steel: A molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel with excellent chemical resistance, particularly chloride corrosion resistance significantly superior to 304 stainless steel. Non-magnetic.

Applicable Environments: Coastal areas, ships, chemical equipment, medical implants, and environments with high humidity and chloride ions.

Material Certification: Material certification is available upon request.

II. Key Custom Feature: "No Blowout" Design
This is the core of this customization, ensuring that the screw remains attached to the mounting plate even after being fully loosened.

Implementation: One or more annular grooves are machined into the polished screw shaft.

Compatible Components: This groove is used in conjunction with a circlip and mounting holes in the machined plate.

Detailed Requirements: Groove Standards: Groove dimensions must meet customer-specified standards.

Groove Position: The distance from the groove to the screw head must be specified. This position determines the length of the screw that remains outside the mounting plate when fully loosened.

Matching Retaining Rings: It is recommended to order matching stainless steel retaining rings at the same time and ensure that the wire diameters are perfectly matched to the grooves.

III. Mechanical Properties and Heat Treatment
Mechanical Property Grades:
304/316 stainless steel screws typically meet A2-70 or A4-70 grades.

70: Indicates a minimum tensile strength of 700 MPa.

For extremely high strength requirements, A2/A4-80 grades may be required, but this typically requires cold work hardening or special heat treatment, which may affect corrosion resistance. Please confirm with the supplier.

Heat Treatment: Standard A2/A4-70 grades are typically cold work hardened to achieve strength without quenching to prevent carbide precipitation that reduces corrosion resistance.

IV. Surface Treatment
Recommended Treatment: Passivation.

Purpose: Removes free iron particles from the surface and forms a chromium-rich oxide film, significantly enhancing rust and corrosion resistance with minimal dimensional change.

Standards: Compliance with ASTM A967 or related standards may be required.

Other Options: Surface Polishing, Electroplating.

V. Quality Control and Inspection
Dimensional Inspection: Full Dimensional Inspection (FAI) or sampling inspection according to AQL standards to ensure compliance with DIN 912 and groove drawing requirements.

Thread Go/No-Go Gauge Inspection: 100% guaranteed thread accuracy.

Surface Defects: No burrs, cracks, or scratches.

Magnetic Testing: 304/316 should be non-magnetic. Magnetic testing can be requested to ensure the material is correct and has not been improperly processed to cause magnetism.

VI. Packaging and Labeling
Packaging: Plastic bag + paper box/carton with desiccant to protect against moisture. Requires cleanliness and scratch resistance.

Labeling: The strength grade (e.g., A2-70) and manufacturer's logo are typically laser-marked or stamped on the product. The packaging box should indicate the specification, quantity, material, and production batch number.

Before placing a formal order, you must first confirm the design drawings and send samples for physical verification, especially the matching test of the "no fall-out" function and the mounting plate.
