Slotted Tapping Insert

Slotted tapping inserts, also known as self-drilling threaded inserts, are a new type of fastener designed to strengthen threads. They feature internal and external threads. When inserted into softer materials such as plastic, aluminum alloy, cast iron, and copper, they create high-strength internal threaded holes. They can also repair damaged internal threads.

Self-tapping thread design

No pre-tapping is required; internal threads can be formed directly into substrates (such as plastic, aluminum alloy, and thin steel), simplifying installation.
The groove design (straight or spiral) facilitates chip removal and prevents material clogging during installation.

High strength and wear resistance

Mostly made of 304 stainless steel or zinc-plated carbon steel, they achieve a hardness of HRC 30-45 and resist stripping even after repeated assembly and disassembly.

Strength-enhancing thread inserts

After insertion, they can improve the load-bearing capacity of threads in soft substrates (such as plastic and magnesium alloy), increasing tensile strength by 3-5 times.

Suitable for thin-walled parts (minimum wall thickness ≥ 1.5mm), they address the issue of traditional threads easily stripping.

Easy Installation

Simple installation is possible with simple tools (such as a hand wrench or electric driver), eliminating the need for specialized equipment.
Some models feature a mounting tang that automatically breaks off once screwed into place, ensuring precise installation depth.

Slotted tapping inserts do not require pre-threading; they can be directly screwed into a pre-determined hole in the parent material using an installation tool. Even with chipped threads, the same screw can be used, ensuring economical and aesthetically pleasing results. They also enhance thread strength in new products. Self-tapping inserts are widely used in the automotive, railcar, shipbuilding, home appliances, construction machinery, office equipment, electronics, engineering plastics, high-end modular furniture, and aluminum die-casting industries.
