Hex cap nuts and combined hex cap nuts are both types of cap nuts, categorized by their production processes into two types. One is the combined type, which is welded-the semi-circular top part is welded on afterward, primarily using a cold-forged small cap. The other is the integral type, which is a single, unified piece. The GB/T923 hex cap nut is of the integral type, while the GB/T802 hex cap nut is of the combined type, essentially consisting of a nut with an added cap.

As the name suggests, a hex cap nut is a hexagonal nut with a cap. The purpose of this cap is to cover the exposed outer part of the fastener, preventing moisture or other corrosive substances from entering, thereby providing rust protection and extending the service life of both the fastener and the connected components. The thread pitch of hex cap nuts generally follows the standard coarse thread pitch, varying with the diameter. There are two manufacturing methods: they can be directly machined or have a cap riveted on. The materials commonly used include alloy aluminum and die-cast aluminum.

Combined hex cap nuts are created by welding, where the semi-circular top part is added later, primarily using a cold-forged small cap.
