Ball Head Stud Screw

 

Ball head Stud screw is a threaded fastener with a round or spherical head and a flattened middle section to facilitate installation with a wrench. Ball-head screws are indispensable industrial necessities in daily life. For example, extremely small ball-head screws are used in cameras, eyeglasses, clocks, and electronics; general-sized ball-head screws are used in televisions, electrical appliances, musical instruments, and furniture; while large ball-head screws are employed in engineering, construction, and bridges.

Due to the unique shape of ball-head screws, which cannot stand stably on a flat surface, we adopted a UFC (indexing table) model machine for inspection and sorting. Based on the product and customer requirements, the system is equipped with two 1.3-megapixel cameras (with 16mm fixed-focus lenses) to capture images of the head dimensions, shank dimensions, and thread positioning, as well as a 300,000-pixel camera (with a 25mm fixed-focus lens) to image the hexagonal socket at the bottom. The system then classifies and rejects products based on the images captured by the cameras.

Optical imaging inspection equipment is an essential tool in the continuous advancement of automation. It effectively ensures dimensional control, defect detection, product quality, and precision. In the future, it will undoubtedly be applied in broader fields, playing a significant role in achieving higher automation and finer quality control.
